Local band still together

After years of touring, Joplin band still performs weekly in back of family-run music store

One local band is still rocking after 26 years. Siblings Dave, Ben and Buffy Peterson along with longtime friend Jeff Kuhns turn Glory Days Music into a concert venue every Saturday night and have been doing so for almost two years. "Ben, Jeff and I started our first band in 1979, and Buffy has been on and off with us since then," said Dave.

Medieval dinner has mighty feast with many hearty guffaws

Alive with music, feasting and revelry, the Madrigal Dinner hosted by Southern's Chamber Choir, swept its audience into medieval times-complete with a dysfunctional royal family and the jabs of whining peasants. Pretty soon, I was drawn into the mix of approving "what-hos" and laughter.

Before students stay home and sleep in, there is one more week of school. However, members of the Campus Activities Board are doing what they can to make that week fun for Missouri Southern students. "It's like a send-off to our students before spring break," said Julie Blackford, director of student activities.

In its final meeting before Spring Break Blitz, Missouri Southern's Campus Activities Board met to make final preparations. They also discussed having a Hollywood celebrity come to campus. "We need to do something in the fall," said Julie Blackford, director of student activities.
