Lions take MIAA baseball tourney opener

It's been more than a month since Missouri Southern and the University of Central Missouri met on the baseball diamond and split a doubleheader in Warrensburg, but the Lions sure looked like the better team Friday in Kansas City. Behind a 16-hit offensive attack and seven shutout innings from starter CJ Maffei, Southern powered its way to the winners' bracket of the MIAA tournament with a dominating 10-0 win over the Mules at Community America Ballpark.
