Women net 5 provisionals, split squad this weekend

Football adds 26 recruits on signing day

Wednesday, the Missouri Southern football team added 26 names to it's roster for the 2010 season. Head Coach Bart Tatum and his staff signed 25 high school recruits and one junior college player on national signing day. "I believe we met our needs," Tatum said.

Men hope to gain ground in MIAA

Robert Corn's team has seven chances left to move up in the MIAA standings. Missouri Southern's men's basketball team currently sits in the sixth seed in the conference with a record of 12-8, (6-7 MIAA). Last week, they dropped two close games to the University of Central Missouri and the University of Nebraska-Omaha, ranked second and fourth in the South Central Region respectively.

Basketball fights for final MIAA spot

The Missouri Southern Women's Basketball team is in trouble. As of Wednesday, the Lions (11-9 overall, 5-8 in MIAA) are in eighth place in the conference. They will need to at least hold that spot if they hope to play in the MIAA Tournament. Only the top eight teams will make the tournament in Kansas City March 4-7.

Rutledge's track team 'striving for improvement'

The Southern men's track and field team had a record-breaking performance in last weekend's Fazoli's/Baymont Inn Invitational at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. "This was a decent meet for us," said Tom Rutledge, head coach. The men picked up four more provisional qualifying times.
