Support for T.R. Hanrahan. It has been expressed by both students and faculty, and Missouri Southern's Faculty Senate showed Hanrahan more on May 2.

In the Senate's May meeting, Faculty Senators adopted a resolution that commended Hanrahan on his five years at Southern.

The resolution, which was the first action item after executive committee elections, passed unanimously.

"The idea was that the Senate wanted to recognize the work that he's done," said Faculty Senate Secretary Wendy McGrane.

The resolution was signed by Faculty Senate's 2010-11 and 2011-12 executive committees. The following is the wording of the resolution.

"Be it resolved that the Faculty Senate would like to commend Thom R. Hanrahan for his five years of service to Missouri Southern and The Chart. With his guidance, the student journalists have produced a strong newspaper which has generated a renewed interest in its coverage. The students have been recognized for their efforts and accrued a number of awards during Hanrahan's term as advisor. In 2010 the Missouri College Media Association recognized Hanrahan as Advisor of the Year.

"We would like to thank Thom R. Hanrahan for his many contributions to Missouri Southern and our students. His efforts have furthered the journalistic tradition on campus and fostered a quality publication for which he should be very proud."

New executive committee

The senators also elected the 2011-12 executive committee, which consists of five members.

They include:

•  Dr. Cliff Toliver, President

• Dr. Linda Hand, President-Elect

• Dr. Cheryl Cifelli, Past-President

• Ms. Wendy McGrane, Secretary

• Mr. Carl Cobb, Parliamentarian

• Dr. John Knapp, At-Large
