On Sept. 8 Missouri Southern will be host to You the Man Anti-Violence One-Man Play.

Centering on the subject of sex and dating violence, You the Man is performed from the male perspective.

"We were approached by Lisa Nelson with the idea of hosting this play," said Kevin Greim, assistant athletics director.

The Missouri Foundation for Health provides a grant each year to universities for sex and dating violence prevention initiatives targeted towards males.

The intent of this production is to help people understand the seriousness of sex and dating violence.

"We just think this is a very important topic and one that unfortunately affects all college campuses," Greim said. "We are very appreciative of Freeman and the Missouri Foundation for Health for the chance to educate our campus about the importance of preventing, intervening, and acting."

Male athletes will be surveyed before and after the performance to see what they know about relationship violence and what they learn.

"This is a strong topic that will affect those who are familiar with these issues," Greim said.

Counselors will be present after the performance for those who wish to speak with them. You the Man will take place at 7 p.m. in the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center, admission is free.

Along with the message of You the Man, a raffle will be held tomorrow during the MSSU football game. The drawing will be held during halftime for a tailgating package worth more than $1,000. Students and faculty are asked to bring paper goods to donate, such as toilet paper, paper plates, etc. All the donations and money raised from the raffle will go to the Lafayette House.
