‘The Secret Life of Pets 2’ is the perfect movie for anybody who can relate to the mayhem of having kids and/or pets. There is a great amount of fun within this movie.

‘The Secret Life of Pets 2’ has most of the animals from the previous film return for this film as well as a few new characters. The stand-out for me in this movie is Harrison Ford, voicing a new character named Rooster.

This is a cute, harmless movie that provides a lot of laughs within its runtime. If you own an animal, you will have relatable moments that bring you joy.

The cast who lend their voices to the wacky characters are great in their various roles. I do not have one complaint with any of the actors because the whole cast is hilarious.

This is a great sequel to the first movie, however, the movie lost me with the story. There are three different stories that follow the pets going on their different adventures. It felt like there were three animated short stories that were mashed up into a feature film and tied together in the end.

This is where the first movie becomes better for me. The first film had one story that involved all the characters, even though they all had their own adventures. Whereas the second film has three very different stories that have nothing to do with each other.

I will say that I liked the first film better, but I try to find positives in every movie. I did like Max and Duke’s adventure the best out of the three. They take a trip to a farm, where they meet Rooster, and Max learns how to be brave. It was cute and inspiring. I wish they would have made the whole story about this adventure because the other two stories felt out of place.

This movie is the correct way to make a sequel. The filmmakers did not do anything special that they did not do with the first movie. There are three stories within the movie, so I’m sure that you will find at least one of them enjoyable.

‘The Secret Life of Pets 2’ will play in Phelps Theater on Thursday, September 12, at 2:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. There will be one more showing on Friday, September 13, at 7:00 p.m.
