As we come to the end of the semester and this being our last issue of The Chart for the 2019 spring semester, I could write about how to study for finals, but that's just not that fun and after writing about how to study for midterms, it's the same as finals.
Here's my advice: get your work turned in, attend the rest of your classes, find a study group.
Instead of school related there are some tips and things to do to enjoy your summer. Only a couple more weeks Lions and then we're outta here.
Find a new hobby. There’s no more stress about homework and test. 8am’s are gone and are so last semester. This is a chance to have free time and enjoy something that you love. Finding a new hobby and sticking to it becoming better increases your mental health.
Save money, go somewhere new. I get it, we’re college students and we the stereotypical broke lifestyle. Most of us have jobs so we can pay our bills, buy gas for the forever rising prices, and afford to attend college the next upcoming semester. We all tend to spend extra money though. Instead of eating out, buy groceries, it’s cheaper and lasts longer. Don’t buy unnecessary items. Find friends and share expenses.
Summer School. Getting ahead on classes isn’t all that bad when getting ahead on classes you could be able to have the possibility to graduate early and there isn’t a risk of falling behind. You can take classes that you want.
Go to a concert. We are in a hot spot of music. Being in-between, Springfield, St. Louis, Kansas City, Tulsa and Fayetteville. All filled with venues with the hottest artists. Concerts can bring you the time of your life
Kayaking, Hiking, camping. Summertime is the time to get outdoors. We’re always stuck inside hours on with in classrooms, doing homework or stuck inside working. This is a time to catch some sun and enjoy some nature and fresh air.
Find an internship and volunteer work. This gives you a chance to work with someone in your future field, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to look at what your future could be like and what you’re going into.
Drive Route 66. Route 66 drives right through Joplin. This is a perfect opportunity to travel along this historic route and see the sights.
Catch up on reading. With continuous homework it’s hard to find a couple hours to sit down and find a book to read. So many book are coming out and if you’re like me, I have a whole stack I need to read but with no time to do it
Binge watch a movie series such as Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, or all of the Disney movies.
Catch up with family and friends. We sometimes keep to ourselves to focus on school and don’t give attention to our friends and family. Take a trip to possibly see an online friend you’ve never met in person.
